In The Middle Of The Night

By Laura Lisbeth

Every morning I take my place
A card-carrying member of the human race
Jump in my car and drive
Doin’ the 8 to 5
I’m alright in the daylight
I keep the bright blue sky in my range of sight
Facing the world with a brave smile
Is easy for a while

But
In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night call your name
I know you can’t hear me
But I do it, just the same
In the middle of the night I pray
That you’ll come back to me and I won’t have to feel this way
Somewhere in the middle of the night

Something shakes me out of my sleep
Apparitions standing at my feet
Keep me awake till dawn
Reminding me that you’re gone
Strong coffee may not be enough
To get me by today when I feel this rough
And if I make it through
Eventually it’s back to you

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night call your name
I know you can’t hear me
But I do it, just the same
In the middle of the night I pray
That you’ll come back to me and I won’t have to feel this way
Somewhere in the middle of the night

I swear I hear your car
I thought I heard you talking
I need to feel you here with me

In the middle of the night
In the middle of the night call your name
I know you can’t hear me
But I do it, just the same
In the middle of the night I pray
That you’ll come back to me and I won’t have to feel this way
In the middle of the night
The middle of the night
In the middle of the night
